How do I Register to vote?
Instructions and form to print out.
Voter Registration deadline for the March 2026 Primary is February 6th.
1) Print out and complete the NC Voter Registration Form .
2) Mail it ASAP to the Ashe County Board of Elections at: 150 Government Circle Suite 2100, Jefferson, NC 2864 to ensure it gets there before the deadline.
3) This MUST be received by the Ashe County Board of Elections no later than February 6th, 2026. You CAN also hand carry it to the Ashe County Board of Elections office in the courthouse by that date.

To legally qualify to Register you must attest to the following:
I am a United States citizen.
I am at least 18 years of age or will be by the date of the general election; or I am at least 16 years old and understand that I must be at least 18 years old on the day of the general election to vote.
I will have been a resident of North Carolina, this county, and precinct for 30 days before the date of the election in which I intend to vote.
I will not vote in any other county or state after submitting this form and if I am registered elsewhere, I am canceling that registration at this time and,
I have not been convicted of a felony, or if so, I have completed my sentence (including any probation, post-release supervision, or parole).

You may need to use alternative search forms - such as St for Street, Rd for Road, (or vice versa), add or remove apostrophes, etc. Do not put lot or apartment numbers. It took me 3-4 tries to get it right.
